Online gambling revenue in Michigan reached a record $3.8 billion in 2025 following double-digit growth across the state’s online casino and sports betting markets.
Annual gross receipts for the market were 29.5% more than 2024, according to the Michigan Gaming Control Board. Gross iCasino revenue jumped 26.5% to $3.1 billion while gross online sports betting receipts climbed 45.8% to $671.3 million.
Total market adjusted revenue, which accounted for promotional spend, was 39.5% higher year-on-year at $3.3 billion. Adjusted iCasino receipts were up 32% to $2.1 billion while adjusted sports betting revenue rocketed 124.2% to $435.9 million.
Spending-wise, betting handle for the year was $5.41 billion, a 1.9% increase from 2024. As for hold, this stood at 12.4% based on gross receipts and 8.05% adjusted revenue.
Double win for FanDuel and MotorCity in Michigan
FanDuel and MotorCity led the online casinos with $817.1 million in gross receipts and $768.1 million in adjusted revenue. MGM and BetMGM were the closest challengers with $782.5 million in gross receipts and $735.5 million in adjusted revenue.
As for sports betting, FanDuel and MotorCity also led this market with $292.3 million in gross receipts and $201.6 million adjusted revenue. Based on gross revenue and a $1.96 billion handle, this left a hold of 14.89%
DraftKings and the Bay Mills Indian Community ranked second among sportsbooks at $183 million and $122.5 million in gross and adjusted receipts, respectively. Hold for the year off of a $1.57 billion handle was 11.66%.
Operators paid $624.6 million in taxes and payments to the state of Michigan in 2025. This included $597.5 million for online casinos and $27.1 million sports betting, while tribal fees hit $71.9 million.
Record revenue in December
Looking to the final month of 2025, gross receipts from the entire online market in Michigan amounted to $399.8 million. This surpassed November by 19.1% and was 51.3% ahead of the previous year, both helped by record iCasino figures.
Gross online casino receipts were $315.8 million, surpassing the previous record set in October 2025 by 13.4%. Gross sports betting receipts for the month totalled $84 million, not far off November’s record $87.3 million haul.
Adjusted receipts for the market as a whole reached $357.9 million. Of this, $296.7 million came from online casinos and $61.1 million from sports betting activity. Betting handle was $512.9 million, meaning a hold of 16.38% based on gross receipts and 11.9% adjusted revenue.
Detroit casino revenue tops $1.3 billion
The state regulator also published data for Detroit’s three commercial casinos. Annual revenue for the venues was $1.3 billion, marginally lower than the previous year.
Slots revenue topped $1 billion, table games $247.8 million and retail sports betting $14.2 million. MGM Grand Detroit was the overall market leader with a 48% share, ahead of the MotorCity Casino at 30%, then Hollywood Casino at Greektown with 22%.
For December, casino revenue stood at $105.1 million. Table games and slots generated $103.4 million, with retail sports betting’s share at $1.7 million. MGM finished the final month of the year as the market leader with a 49% share.
